Things that make my life easier

1)  Wireless headphones.  Unfortunately, Jaybird discontinued this model but they should bring it back.  I have yet to find earbuds that actually fit me comfortably for long periods of time so I often turn to over-the-ear headphones.  These headphones are incredible; the sound quality is top notch, the no-slip interior keeps them on my head during any activity and I love that the controls are right on the earpiece.  Best of all,  Jaybird guarantees their products sweatproof so if yours stop working due to sweat, they'll send you a replacement, no questions!  This is my 2nd pair and the replacement process was so easy!

+ Prepping the night before.  If you ask any parent "what's the worst thing about the school year?" and about 99.9% of them will say packing their kids' lunches really chaps their ass. Kayla isn't a picky eater (thank god for that) but the whole motion of packing her lunches every fucking day annoys me to no end because I'd much rather sit with her during breakfast and drink my coffee while she gets ready for the day.

To make mornings easier, I pack her lunch the night before - I put everything in a bowl and stick it in the fridge so in the morning, I just have to microwave it and put it in her Thermos.  All that's left is cutting up her fruit.

Prepping the night before makes everything easier....when I worked, I'd pack my entire lunch + snacks in my lunch bag and stick the whole thing in the fridge so all I had to do was grab the bag and leave.  That also includes work bag and gym bag and then everything is placed by the door so that nothing is forgotten.

+  I don't buy wrinkle-prone clothes.  Because fuck ironing.  Well, whether the clothes are wrinkle-free or not, I wear them even if they're wrinkled because IDGAF.

+ I shower the night before, that includes washing my hair.  I have zero time to rush a shower in the morning so I do all of that the night before

+ Daily shower spray.  In a previous post, I mentioned that I was trying a daily shower spray so that I can extend the time between cleanings because I loathe cleaning the shower.  I'm happy to report that after about a week and a half of using this every day, I studied my shower and did not see any of the usual (weekly) indicators that I have to clean it - soap scum on the floors/glass, initial beginnings of (pink) mildew.
Need to make a second batch!

+ Daily cleaning/tidying up of the kitchen.  Our kitchen is a high-traffic area and ain't nobody got time to spend hours cleaning it; instead, it gets a daily tidy-up courtesy of Kayla (girl has to earn her keep!).  After every meal, she wipes down the counters and kitchen table and after every dinner, she sweeps the floor.

+ Journaling before bed.  Purging your mind of things that clutter it right before bed is such a fantastic way to get a great night's sleep.  I've had a lot of projects on the go, a lot of things that we need to do and a lot of things to consider (dog-related) so jotting these down in my journal in whatever haphazard way clears my mind.

  1. My number one would be writing things down. I have a tendency to think "oh, I'll remember that" and then completely forget and panic trying to figure out what exactly it is that I forgot. People always tell me that if it is important I will remember... unfortunately, the more important the less I remember it seems. Lists and notes are my best friend.

  2. Prepping food for the next day the night before is such a time saver. The days I act lazy at night I curse myself in the morning because ugh, have to think about what for food and shenanigans. Blah. Need to make some of that shower spray asap.

  4. Absolutely yes to getting ready the night before. I also only ever shower at night, and prep lunches and bags. I'm just not a morning person, not enough to remember everything I need to get done. Saves so much mental energy just doing it the night before.

  5. Glad to know I'm not the only one who HATES packing lunches lol I like doing it the night before too that way I don't feel rushed in the mornings.

  6. I always try to do as much as possible the night before. On Sunday, I plan my outfits out for the week. That also has helped in the morning. I don't even want to know many hours I have wasted trying to decide in the morning what to wear. I always shower at night and let my hair dry over night. I wasted so many hours drying my hair in the morning, what a waste.

  7. I'd like to borrow Kayla to come tidy my kitchen every night. :D Those headphones look nice and need to check them out. I always struggle with earbuds because my ears are weirdly tiny. Like super tiny. Like most earbuds don't fit my mouse-sized ears.

  8. I try to get most everything I can get done the night before knocked out. Unfortunately, Zoe's bottles have to be made in the morning because they are only good for 24 hours and they don't sit well for longer than 12 really. But everything else? DONE!!! Those headphones sound awesome!

  9. I'm the same way with the shower... I dont know how people take the time to do that in the morning. Let night time sleep be my hair dryer

  10. I need to get my evening routine under control. I'm always so tired that I put things off until morning and then I'm rushing. The worst. Also, I'm a huge fan of the shower spray.

  11. The only time I'll ever even consider showering in the morning before work are the days when I have 2 hours to wake up & walk out the door rather than 1.

  12. I'm all about prepping the night before too. Lunches are prepared, the coffee maker is set, the diaper bag is packed, and I even shower at night so I don't have to in the morning. I'm the farthest thing from a morning person, so every last second of sleep is precious.

  13. I never ever ever iron. I hate it. If K wants something ironed he knows he's doing it himself...
    I should journal before bed.
I definitely need to mix up some of that shower spray.

  14. Great list and ideas. I am forever saying I want to start prepping for the next day at night but I never do, and then I rush around like a madwoman every damn morning. Sigh. I never iron. I guess I'm wrinkly sometimes but IDGAF also.

  15. Lunch the night before really is the best- I don't even have to do it for my kid, but the hubs & I do it for ourselves lol. I use my bullet journal more for planning than journaling, but yest such a time saver! Same goes for wrinkle release spray- GAME CHANGER (and there are cheap DIY versions that I've started making).
