The last weekend of October

We're ready for Halloween; candy has been bought and sorted (good candy for the cute kids in costume; crappy candy for those punkass youths) and blog has been decorated in spirit.  It's too bad that Kayla has been grounded from Halloween but at least she can dress up at home.

+ Fall temps have been consistent 'round these parts, including my house....I think it's time I turn the heat on.

+ Kayla had her first legit race called The Cookie Cx (cookie cross) on a rainy, chilly Saturday afternoon.  She was late starting (last minute pee due to nervousness), fell a bazillion times in the mud (OMG LOOK AT HER CLOTHES), the organizers made a mistake and made the kids do the (brutal and hilly) adult course .... and came in 7th place!  We are so proud of her!
these two were incredibly ecstatic at completing the course!

+ Rain and chilly weather meant a lot of this happened.  Such a great book; get on it.

+ So...this is what we were faced with.  After psyching myself up to take a look at Kayla's closet, I opened the doors to this horror show.  Even I judged her when I saw this.

Houston, we have a problem.  It seems like most of her clothes had fallen off the hangers onto the floor and she DGAF.  I'm also trying to not be the mother who harps on her kid to clean up her space but seriously, look at the fucking state of that closet.  The apple has fallen far from the tree.

We purged her entire closet and drawers (not seen) and after ripping out her old whatever the hell she had in there, my husband installed her new organizer and we basically redid her whole room.  Now I can breathe a sigh of relief!

+ While digging for something in the basement last night, my husband found my old sticker collection from 1984 (when I was 11 years old!).
obviously I was still true to my asian roots and had an obsession with anything Sanrio

puffy stickers!

Looking through these, Kayla was fascinated and had so many questions about them: what did you do with these?  how did you get all of them?  how did you figure out what was a fair trade?  how much did they cost? can you still buy these stickers? let's smell all of them!!

Today I have my facial acupuncture (totally looking forward to that) because my skin is freaking out.  It does not like the cold weather/inconsistent changes and is giving me the finger.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

  1. OH MY!! Look at those stickers!! OMG, I loved stickers as a kid and I'm obsessed with Little Twin Stars and Hello Kitty. Heck, still am. I use hello kitty stickies and I always know when people steal them from me. lol. Don't be stealing my stickies!!

  2. Great job to Kayla at the race! My closet is in need of some major work. Just a week or 2 it looked awesome, then it became the throwing grounds for everything I was trying to hide from my dog...

  3. EEEEEP, grounded from halloween!

Way to go Kayla in the race, so awesome. And the closet, such a great refresh, looks awesome now. Hope your skin feels better. We are changing collagen this week and I'm nervous about my reaction. My skin hates the cold.

  4. Congrats to Kayla- that's awesome! And omg I used to have some of those stickers too! lol

  5. Oh no, what got Kayla grounded? I always would get a little irritated when I saw older kids going trick or treating. But then I heard a mom say, "Well, I would rather my son go trick or treating than being out causing mischief or drinking at a party." And now I embrace the older kids too. Unless they are assholes. Then you can sit here.

I am afraid that Zoe isn't going to love organization or putting things away, and I am way too OCD for that!!! I think if I opened that closet I would legit pass out lol. Her new set up looks awesome!!! Maybe it will inspire her to keep it up??? Way to go on the race, Kayla!!!

  6. Oh my gosh I loved Sanrio stickers and characters growing up!! A sticker collection is the best--I'm pretty sure mine is still at my parents house somewhere haha. Go Kayla on her race!!

  7. Go KAYLA!! 7th on an adult course is awesome.

PS that closet - yikes. Kinda reminds me of me growing up except hers is a LOT better. I legit hated to organize closets spaces and the door could close so I dumped everything I didn't need to see in there. My mum hated it.

    Facial acupuncture sounds amazing.

  8. Woohoo, good job at the race to Kayla. That's awesome. Oh my, yeah that closet. But I'm sure mine looked the same way off and on as a kid. and as an adult.. lol. I hide things in my closet because CATS. Ugh. The sticker collection is a good find. Oh smelly stickers. I loved those! :) XO - Alexandra

  9. Those stickers... memory flashback!!!!
Look at that mud. That's crazy they messed up & put them on a hard path like that. YIKES!!!!

  10. I had a great sticker collection as a child. I had trouble saying "s" so I had speech therapy and got stickers as a reward from the therapist. :D I'm not sure my closet looks much better than Kayla's did. Okay, a bit better but I could use some help in that arena. Anytime, you and your husband want to stop by and fix me up right, please do! And judge away! It was 105 degrees here on Tuesday and it's going to be a glorious 70 today. So happy!

  11. Those stickers are great!!! Congrats to kayla for 7th place that is awesome!

  12. Way to go Kayla!!!
But also... Kayla... that closet! Hahahaha!! It's looks awesome now, though! Great job!
    I love the sticker collection.

  13. Aw man, grounded.

My closet looks like that right now. I meant to get to it over the judgement here.

  14. My closet is completely on the floor as well, such a shame. My mom would certainly fuss at me.

  15. OH - I loved that kind of sticker album! Couldn't do much trading with it because the stickers would be stuck (as they do) to the sticky album pages. Good memories. :)
