+ Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer - $32CAD Sephora.
Purchase Reason:  Stupid YouTube.

Results: I wasn't able to wear this outside because I couldn't find a color to match my skin so I wore this around at home for a week to test out how it would feel on my skin for hours at a day.

Since I have dry and "mature" skin (rude), products tend to settle in fine lines and dry out the under-eye area after a few hours.  I noticed this product is pretty thick yet blendable and a little goes a long way.  Right off the bat, a tiny amount provides ample coverage (I'd say medium to full coverage) so the need for me to use my corrector wasn't necessary.

After 6hrs, my skin didn't feel dry at all, the product remained (didn't fade off) nor did it make my under-eye area crepey.   While no product out there is 'creaseless' because let's face it - unless you're under the age of 10, your skin won't be 100% smooth - I had to set it with setting powder to avoid settling into lines.

It's too bad I wasn't able to find a colour match; this is something I've heard about with Tarte - there are some people who have to blend two products to get the right shade which isn't going to happen with me because ain't nobody got time for that (or to spend that kind of money).

Recommendation:  If you can find a shade that matches, definitely.  It provides good coverage (without the need for a corrector) and best of all, Tarte Cosmetics are free from harsh chemicals and cruelty-free.

+ Urban Studios blending sponges - $4.99CAD, Winners.

Purchase Reason:  This is what happens when you fall down the YouTube rabbit hole.

Results:  I wasn't about to spend the ridiculous money for a Beauty Blender so I decided to hunt for some dupes and found these at Winners.  I used both to apply concealer (to see if it would yield different results - it didn't) and noticed that not only does it made makeup application easier but it gives you a soft, polished look. Did you know that you can also apply setting powder using this sponge?  (although I found using the larger one to apply powder is better).  They're easy to clean, don't soak up the product and makes makeup application so much better/easier.

Recommendation:  absolutely yes.

+ Uniqlo non-slip footies - $9.90USD (for a pack of 3), various styles.  I have to say, the Japanese know their shit whether it's clothing fit/style, paper craft supplies or hydrating drinks.

Purchase Reason:  I was in the Uniqlo store in NYC and friends have been raving about them.

Results:  The non-slip was what I was most concerned about as I had trouble in the past of non-slip footies slipping off so I tested two pairs that I had - one with a pair of running shoes during a workout and one with my flats and neither slipped off, especially during my run. I never had to adjust (ie. yank up the back of the sock) and they never bunched up close to my heel.

Recommendation:  do yourself a favour and get these asap.  They're so comfortable, never slip off the back of your foot and such a good price for a pack of 3.

  2. I'll have to remember those footies. Mine always slip off! I like them for flats because I don't like bare feet.

  3. I have so many fake beauty blenders and they all work as well, if not better than the one over priced sponge that they say is original. smh.

  5. I have the worst time with footies! I will have to check those out. I have the exact same issue with that tarte concealer too. Never matched my skin right, and it creased like crazy on me. More so than some of my others I have tried. I love the Real Techniques version of the beauty blender. I paid $20 once for the real thing and was so pissed when I had to throw it away after about 3 months. Because those things get nasty!!! All the dupes I have tried work just fine.

  6. I love finding no-show socks that actually stay on. It's all you can wear with flats and vans and Toms! Bummer about the concealer shades.
