Things you need in your life

Happy almost weekend, yall. It's been a crazy work week and it doesn't look like it'll get any better.  My new VP is making some changes (the way IT is run) and it starts with my project. It's good because there's continuity of resources on project from start to finish but that also means that I have to be part of the documentation process again (read: I have to write all of it)....and I haven't done any documentation in nearly 20 years.  I fought it for a while since I got on this project but I can't fight it anymore.

But it's Friday eve and I'm looking forward to this weekend because the Green Living Show is on and we have tickets.  Can't wait to peruse the exhibits and relish in the world of organic things.

Here are some things you really need in your life......

+ Loreal Double Extend Mascara.  Guys... GUYS. I've finally found my holy grail mascara AND I didn't have to spend a fortune on it either ($12).  I had no idea that there was a difference between smudge and waterproof; if you tend to swim or sweat a lot (ie. you live in a hot climate), waterproof is the way to go but if you have oily lids either from natural skin oils or like me (from skin products), smudge proof is your answer.

This mascara is amazing - never ever ends up on  my lower lids/turns me into a raccoon.  It stays on all day, never flakes either and so easy to wash off.  Did I mention $12?

+ The Great Alone.  Kristin Hannah wrote The Nightingale, the best book I read in 2016 and I couldn't wait to get my hands on her new book.  When I saw this in my boomerang section at the library, I snapped this up and inhaled this in two days, it was that good.  I now have book hangover and the 4 other books I have just aren't cutting it.

+ Putting prescription lenses in your favourite sunglasses.  GAME CHANGER, you guys.  And this didn't even cost me anything because (husband's work) benefits, yo.

  5. Is that the mascara that makes little tubes around your lashes? If so, I tried it a few years ago and hated how it came off in the evenings. Who knows, you said it is easy to get off. Maybe the formula changed and I need to check it out again? I do love L'Oreal mascaras in general. Voluminous is my favorite of theirs. Chris is always talking about documentation. Gross.

  7. I've never been able to wear sunglasses because I've been blind since 4th grade. I finally got a prescription pair last year for dirt cheap on Firmoo. I like them a lot but I usually forget to put them on since I'm just not used to it!

  12. The Great Alone is on my TBR. Honestly, the book description didn't exactly wow me but EVERYONE raves about it and The Nightingale was amazing, so I believe them. Amazing books do set a high bar for follow-up books. Next time I get mascara, I'm going with that one. I need to replace the lenses in my sunglasses too, because I recently updated my prescription glasses and can really tell the difference. Unfortunately I no longer have eye insurance so all out of pocket. Boo! Have a great weekend!

  13. Ok you totally convinced me on the Kristin Hannah book (not that I needed much convincing after The Nightingale--swwwwwwoooon!), definitely adding it to my TBR list asap because the book I've been trying to finish for the last few weeks (maybe months) is dragging and I have no motivation.
Definitely looking into that mascara too!

  15. Have heard so many amazing things about that book - will have to jump on it. I'm a mascara junkie, so I'm going to have to try that out as well.

  16. Why do IT geniuses hate documentation? I know that it's tedious and I kinda get it, but I'm the tech writer at an IT company and it's like medieval torture for the techs to write documentation. As a tech writer, I'd be happy to just have a recording of what should be in the document to generate!

I'm excited to read The Great Alone. I've got an Audible credit waiting on it after I finish 3 books I've already purchased....
