Friday Thangs [11-3]

The first Friday of November! which means Christmas is only eight Saturdays away.

+ I decided to take a break from coffee this week.  That's right folks - I have not had any coffee in 5 days and no one is dead yet so kicking your coffee addiction is possible.  Instead, I've been drinking tea as a 'lighter' alternative and it's not bad.  The reason I decided to give my body a (temporary) break from coffee is because my skin is 100% fucked up and it's killing me.  We all know coffee is a diuretic and I need to retain as much water in my body as possible but oh, how I miss it....

+ Reorganizing the main bathroom begins next week.  All I can say is that this will be my biggest challenge yet.  More to come in my next I Heart Organizing series post.

+ Picked up a few more Christmas gifts from Winners (I love this place!):  wool dryer balls + essential oil pack for $13.

5-pack of face sheets for $7.  Normally these are $3 each so I saved a pretty penny.
These were such great deals that I also picked them up for myself because treat yo'self.  I have a few things that I need to order but waiting for Black Friday sales.

+ Finished Mind Hunter; so good.  Get on it.

+ Rereading one of my favourites since 95% of library books I've received sucked:

+ My crockpot has been putting in major hours. My most recent dish - butternut squash soup because it's been pretty chilly and windy these days.

Here's the recipe:
  • 1 medium butternut squash, peeled de-seeded, cubed. Click here to find out how to easily peel the squash.
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 apple, peeled, cored, chopped
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • 2-3 sage leaves
  • 2 cups vegetable stock
  • 2 carrots, peeled, chopped
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk.
  1. Place all ingredients into crockpot, except coconut milk
  2. cook on low 4-6hrs, until squash is soft
  3. remove sage leaves; use immersion blender and blend until smooth
  4. add coconut milk and stir
  5. adjust seasoning to taste.

+ I'm not a huge fan of her music but Pink is someone I could hang with; she has the same parenting style and humour as I do.  Check out her fun interview:

+ same goes with Jennifer Lawrence. She guest-hosted for Jimmy Kimmel and how adorable is she fangirling over Kim Kardashian (ugh, why).  The way she acts, I don't think she knows she's an A-List actress.

+ Getting in touch with my inner senior citizen and will be looking into aquafit classes at the local community center.
This will be me Mon, Wed, Fri.

+ This mom is doing life right:

+ In case anyone cares, there's a huge UFC fight this weekend; 3 title fights (middleweight, bantam weight and straw weight).  I don't care much for UFC but whenever Joanna Jedrzejczyk fights (she's a former multiple muay thai world champion), I watch because her striking is incredible.  Oh, GSP is making his comeback in this fight.

Also, I just got an email indicating that we've been included as one of the "PPV event testers" so that means FREE.

  7. I love butternut squash soup. I make one that uses apple cider and it is soooo good! I have never tried face sheets but have wondered about them. My skin is looking rough since I've been in deep denial over how my lack of attention has wreaked havoc on my face. I love Pink and Jennifer Lawrence. JLaw has openly admitted to being a huge Kardashian fan, which I don't get but appreciate her honesty because most in her position would lie! LOL! I have still not read a new-to-me book. I have never gone this long without reading anything new. :D Happy Friday!

  11. I love Pink... I think she would have to be the coolest mom. Next to you of course ;)
