This staycation is exactly what I needed.... waking up each morning to nothing but relaxation.  Leisurely mornings with Kayla and walking her to school while we enjoy our chats.  Unrushed coffee.  Lounging around and reading mid-afternoon and if I happen to doze off? then I doze off.  It's the best.

+ This staycation has made me rethink my work fuck off time...that maybe I should take the summer off and return in the fall when my project goes into delivery.  My original plan was to take a year off starting November but that means I'll likely be taken off this super cool project and I'm not sure if I want that so right now, I'm wrestling with 4 months of traipsing around during the summer or a whole year off and losing a high profile project.  What's a girl to do?

+ I've also had a chance to explore some of the local Brazilian Jiu Jitsu studios. My first class was on Tuesday led by a BJJ blackbelt.  He's Russian and straight from the Eastern Bloc.  When I called to ask some questions, I told him that I was a complete beginner and he cut me off mid-sentence and said in a heavy Russian accent:  "don't vorry, everyone vas beginner. You come and train tomorrow 12 o'clock. You learn" then he hung up.

The experience was.....interesting.  I'll post about this later after I've tried the other gyms.

+ Warmer weather means back to getting the feet situation in order. No one like lizard feet so I spent time soaking them in a tub of warm sudsy water and lavender essential oil, followed by a good exfoliation and painting my tootsies with this gorgeous colour - Berried Treasure by Essie. Bonus that I got it for $4 at Winners.

+ Picked this book up in the Boomerang section of the library on a whim and I'm surprised at how much I'm liking it because 1) zero research went into this book and 2) it's a Canadian author and I usually don't like Canadian books at all.

+ Looking forward to getting and using my Beauty Counter giveaway prize.  Steph had this amazing Beauty Spa giveaway on her blog and I won!

+ More awesomeness - big fat Ebates check!  This is going towards my post-project deployment Treat Yo Self present.

.....which is a pair of these babies coming next week:

  2. I love winning giveaways! :) :) That book sounds interesting. LOL on the Jui Jitsu (?) trainer. That's amazing. I need a post-wedding-weekend pedi. My feet (and most of myself) is pretty exhausted and wrecked. LOLOL If you like your job... I'd say take 4 months off. But.. you do you lady! XO - Alexandra

  3. Haha, I have zero advice for the work front -- honestly, I'd take any sort of fuck off time!! but I love that you're just relaxing, getting those feet in order (that polish color is so pretty!) and doing you!

  4. Staycations are the best. I've never heard of "fuck off time" (is that really what it's called?!) Either way it sounds awesome and I could use that too! I use and love Ebates too. Seriously the best.

    Thanks for linking up :)

  6. I'd love to find a BJJ studio down here. Now that I'm a combat instructor I'm ITCHING to actually take Muay Tahi and BJJ classes. I wish they weren't so expensive, wah.

I think if you want to be on the project change the work fuck off time and just take the summer off. You'll be happier when it's time to work if you like the project, at least I think you will be.

  7. A friend of mine does some BJJ stuff and wrestling as well and he lives in Toronto so if you want I can introduce you and maybe he can give some recommendations. Let me know!

  8. Those gloves are awesome looking! Also, your leisurely mornings/days sound incredibly awesome, too... I like to pretend I have that kind of freedom when I work from home (but truthfully work and responsibilities are always looming, lol).

  9. That nail color is exactly like one I'd wear all summer.
I contemplated taking next year off and it was a tough decision...long story short: I can't take 12 months for "me" when I know I'd be giving up a perfectly good salary. Plus I'm on week one of summer and running out of things to do.

  10. Winning a giveaway is the best. I won like 3 in a row a while back, and haven't won anything since, but maybe I am due again!?

Also, my nails need some work too. I am usually on-top of it. But two weeks on vacation means I just haven't had the time!

  11. YAY! I just emailed you because it looks like the stuff should already be delivered! So fast in Canada :) I'm excited to hear what you think. Also, I would vote for taking the summer off.

  12. Can't wait to hear about your experience with the russian, that's sounds hilarious. I would not be able to call it BJJ Studio though, I would have to say the whole name for fear of inadvertently telling people I was off to the BJ Studio for practice lolz

  13. So awesome about the Beauty Counter winnings! I truly love that stuff.

I vote for summer off. Sounds like the best of both worlds.

  16. Congrats on winning the giveaway! I really love that polish color. While a year of fuck off time sounds awesome, I'd do the months just because it seems like you really want to be on that project & 4 months is still pretty good!

  17. I love your term "work fuck off time!" I need to remember that. I am a fierce guardian of my personal time bc my work tries to steal as much of it as they can. Glad you enjoyed your staycation.
